Dodge Takes a Ride on the Wild Side

Fast cars and rock ‘n’ roll have been partners for decades. Now the Dodge brand is along for the ride for a groundbreaking move in the music industry.

Dodge will sponsor the “Final Tour” of the most notorious band in rock, Motley Crue. And by final, Motley Crue means the last time you’ll ever get to see them perform live.

Band members signed a binding “cessation of touring” agreement at their press conference this week. It ensures that Motley Crue will bow out while they are still at the top of their game and won’t end up touring in 20 years with one or two original band members.

After 80 million albums sold, countless sold-out tours and an induction into the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the rockers say they don’t want to go away mad, they just want to go away.

Dodge already features the band’s hit single “Kickstart my Heart” in several commercials for the Dodge Charger and Challenger. Dodge says the energy of the song and the band captures the spirit of the brand.

“Whenever I talk to people about Motley Crue, the common thread is how cool and relevant the band remains even after 33 years,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO, Dodge Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “This irreverent ‘staying power’ resonates deeply with the Dodge brand as we turn the corner on our 100 year anniversary. What better way to celebrate the band’s final tour and the 25th anniversary of ‘Kickstart My Heart’ than to do it together?”

Detroit native Alice Cooper will open for Motley Crue. Cooper has been called the band’s “Spiritual Advisor.” Together, they call themselves “a match made in … Armageddon.”

Motley Crue gave fans a taste of what’s to come on Jimmy Kimmel Live and CBS This Morning.

So, if you want to see Motley Crue perform live one last time, get your tickets, grab your friends and hit the road in a Dodge Charger or Challenger because that’s the only way to truly kickstart your heart!

Tickets are on sale now.
