Alfa Romeo’s ‘Soul’ Shines During Monterey Car Week

The past, present and future of Alfa Romeo was on display this past week in California for Monterey Car Week.

Attendees of the many car shows, auctions and events on the Monterey peninsula had the opportunity to see, and in some cases drive, Alfa Romeos.

The range of vehicles on display included a rare Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza; Alfa Romeo Duettos celebrating their 50th anniversary; the sporty 4C and the soon-to-be-released 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia.

“If you think about Alfa Romeo, it is truly the heart and soul of the automotive industry,” said Reid Bigland, head of Alfa Romeo. “With the return of Alfa Romeo to North America, what better place to bring our vehicles back to market than right here at Monterey Car Week.”

Those who attended the Concorso Italiano at Black Horse Golf Course had the opportunity to stroll among dozens of privately owned Alfa Romeos before arriving at Alfa Romeo’s stand where they could see the 4C and Giulia close up.

Alfa Romeo also had a presence at The Quail, one of the most famous – and exclusive – classic car shows in the world. A 4C and Giulia were shown on a specially-built display just steps from a beautiful 1934 Alfa Romeo 8C 2600 Monza, a stunning 1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Veloce and a restored 1957 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Veloce.

Not all the displays were static in the Carmel area. Alfa Romeo offered performance enthusiasts an opportunity to drive a 4C Spider along the winding California roads with the top down.

Monterey Car Week concluded with one of the world’s premier celebrations of automobiles, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. In addition to the rare and unique autos on display on the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach, Alfa Romeo displayed a new Giulia for all to see.

“We are only a few weeks away from having the vehicle show up in the North American marketplace,” Bigland said. “It’s great to give consumers here, primarily in the United States, a little bit of a sneak peek preview of the car before it starts to arrive in dealerships throughout the United States and Canada.”
