Minivan Monday: Pacifica’s infotainment system rivals a ‘luxury SUV’

The infotainment system in the Chrysler Pacifica may be so good that passengers may not want to leave the minivan.

The Chrysler Pacifica minivan has an available class-exclusive Uconnect Theater rear-seat entertainment system. This system allows passengers to watch movies, play built-in games and view content from personal devices on two high-definition 10-inch touchscreens.

Passengers can select from a variety of devices to connect to the Uconnect Theater, including smartphones, tablets and gaming devices, via USB and HDMI ports.

These high-tech, user-friendly features in the Pacifica led a Business Insider reviewer to state, “Chrysler has taken it beyond the basics of Bluetooth connectivity and USB integration and delivered an up-to-date infotainment setup that’s as good as what you’d find on a luxury SUV.”

For the 2018 model year, the infotainment system in the Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid is even better. Both models will receive upgraded Uconnect 4 systems with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on all models.

Also available for 2018:

  • Uconnect 4 7-inch touchscreen radio standard on L, LX, Touring and Touring L models
  • Uconnect 4 8.4-inch touchscreen radio now has HD Radio
  • Uconnect 4C NAV with 8.4-inch touchscreen radio features available 4G Wi-Fi
  • Uconnect Theater offers wireless streaming from Android mobile devices

Uconnect 4 systems include performance improvements with faster startup time, enhanced processing power, vivid imagery, plus higher resolution and sharper graphics.

The review by Business Insider added that as consumers demand greater features, Chrysler has it “covered.” In addition to the infotainment offerings for passengers, there are a number of available driver-assist features in the Pacifica, including blind-spot and cross-traffic warning systems to front collision warnings, adaptive cruise control and lane-departure warnings systems. The dashboard also has a 7-inch full-color driver information display.

These technological and driver-assist features, along with the overall infotainment system and the minivan’s exterior styling, and fuel economy, led the reviewer to state, “The Pacifica is definitely the best minivan money can buy.”

Hello from the Motor City! I’m Edward Cardenas and I’m multimedia editor for Stellantis. As a lifelong Detroiter, I have been surrounded by the automotive industry. I’ve had members of my immediate and extended family work in the industry. I’ve covered it as a journalist and advocated for it as a communications professional. I have also experienced the thrills of the industry while riding in a race car at nearly 200 miles per hour. Having this breadth of experience, I look forward to drawing upon my experiences to bring a wide range of stories, photos and videos about Chrysler, FIAT and Alfa Romeo to Stellantis Digital Media. When I’m not covering my brands, I’m spending time with my wife and two boys.
