First. That word gets tossed around plenty when the topic is the 707-hp 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat:
- First supercharged HEMI engine ever produced by Chrysler Group.
- First eight-speed automatic transmission offered in the segment.
- First Chrysler Group car to come with two key fobs. Only the red fob unleashes the 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat’s full power.
But this is the ultimate first – the first production Challenger SRT Hellcat off the assembly line.
Who gets that car, which carries Vehicle Identification Number 70001? We’ll find out Saturday evening in Las Vegas at the Barrett-Jackson auction.
Yes, the first Challenger SRT Hellcat has far too much awesome – 707 horsepower, 8-speed automatic transmission, 20-inch wheels, 15.4-inch Brembo two-piece front brake rotors — to end up being caged in a museum (at least by us.) And, it’s the only 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat to wear Stryker Red from the Dodge Viper SRT color palette – hand-painted by the same guys who paint the Viper panels.
The winning bidder also gets a special, customized owner’s kit that includes an aluminum supercharger plenum cover, SRT Hellcat lithograph signed by members of the Chrysler Group design team and an Apple iPad mini loaded with photos and a video documenting assembly of the first Challenger SRT Hellcat at the plant in Brampton, Ontario. There’s also a sleeve for the iPad, made with Laguna leather and embossed with the Hellcat logo.
You can watch the bidding live on the National Geographic channel at about 9 p.m. Eastern/6 p.m. Pacific – it may be your only chance to see the car. Proceeds from the sale will benefit Opportunity Village, a not-for-profit organization in Las Vegas that serves people with intellectual disabilities.
How much would you be willing to bid for the first Challenger SRT Hellcat?
