Minivan Monday: Chrysler Pacifica’s technology assists drivers getting into, and out of, parking spaces

Getting into and out of parking spaces can be a challenge for drivers of all abilities.

From safely pulling out of the driveway at home, to perfectly pulling into the parallel parking space on a busy city street, there always seems to be a blind spot for the driver or just a difficult angle when trying to navigate into a tight spot.

These parking dilemmas are eased with available features on the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica.

When drivers look to start their trip and leave their driveway at home, they can have a bird’s-eye view of the Chrysler Pacifica with an available 360° Surround View Camera. The Surround View uses four cameras positioned around the vehicle to create a fully stitched image on the 8.4-inch display on the minivan’s dashboard.

In addition to the 360° Surround View Camera, the Pacifica also offers available Rear Cross Path Detection, which helps monitor hard-to-see angles while backing out of tight parking spots.

For those who are sometimes challenged by parallel and perpendicular parking, the Pacifica offers an available class-exclusive Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist System. This system controls the steering while the driver follows on-screen directions for the gear position, brake and accelerator.

Hello from the Motor City! I’m Edward Cardenas and I’m multimedia editor for Stellantis. As a lifelong Detroiter, I have been surrounded by the automotive industry. I’ve had members of my immediate and extended family work in the industry. I’ve covered it as a journalist and advocated for it as a communications professional. I have also experienced the thrills of the industry while riding in a race car at nearly 200 miles per hour. Having this breadth of experience, I look forward to drawing upon my experiences to bring a wide range of stories, photos and videos about Chrysler, FIAT and Alfa Romeo to Stellantis Digital Media. When I’m not covering my brands, I’m spending time with my wife and two boys.
