Fiat 500 goes retro with the 1957 edition

One of FIAT’s most iconic cars is going back in time with a retro look with the Fiat 500 1957 Edition.

FIAT is honoring the original 1957 Nuova Cinquecento with a special-edition package that gives the Fiat 500 Lounge model a vintage appearance. The last time this package was available was in the 2016 model year.

“Our Italian-designed, fun-to-drive Fiat 500 comes standard with turbocharged power,” said Steve Beahm, Head of Passenger Car Brands – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and Fiat, FCA – North America. “The 1957 Edition offers a fun, custom appearance for the iconic Fiat 500.”

The new Fiat 500 1957 Edition, which is available in both the hatchback and cabrio configurations, features a number of retro features throughout the vehicle. These include:

  • Three new 16-inch retro-inspired wheel options (White, Green or Blue)

  • Retro fascia with bright inserts and retro FIAT badging
  • Additional exterior touches, including retro Ivory door-trim panels, white exterior mirrors, two-toned paint with a white roof on hatchback models, a Black soft top on cabrio models, and three retro-inspired paint colors: Celeste Blue (Retro Light Blue), Chiaro (Light Green) and Bianco Ice (White)
  • Inside the 500 1957 Edition is an Avorio (Ivory) interior contrasted with premium Marrone (Brown) leather seats, Avorio accent stitching vertically crossing seatbacks and seat cushions, Ivory door-trim panels and a Marrone leather shift boot (with manual transmission) color-keyed to the leather seats. An Avorio/Marrone leather-wrapped steering wheel is hand-stitched with Marrone leather on the “inner ring” and features a retro “FIAT” badge
  • The retro theme even extends to a uniquely styled key fob

Under the hood of the Fiat 500 1957 Edition model is a standard 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine, which features a single turbocharger, twin intercoolers and a sport-tuned exhaust, and delivers 135 horsepower and 150 lb.-ft. of torque– 34 more standard horsepower than the previous model. The MultiAir Turbo engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission as standard, and is available with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Once on the road, drivers can select the “Sport” mode on the instrument panel for a more aggressive driving experience.

The Fiat 500 1957 Edition package is based on the Lounge model, which starts at a U.S. manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of  $19,745. The 1957 Edition package for the Fiat 500 is available for $995 and will be available in FIAT studios this fall.

Hello from the Motor City! I’m Edward Cardenas and I’m multimedia editor for Stellantis. As a lifelong Detroiter, I have been surrounded by the automotive industry. I’ve had members of my immediate and extended family work in the industry. I’ve covered it as a journalist and advocated for it as a communications professional. I have also experienced the thrills of the industry while riding in a race car at nearly 200 miles per hour. Having this breadth of experience, I look forward to drawing upon my experiences to bring a wide range of stories, photos and videos about Chrysler, FIAT and Alfa Romeo to Stellantis Digital Media. When I’m not covering my brands, I’m spending time with my wife and two boys.
