Some automotive brands have a well-known car.
Jeep has an icon.
The Jeep Wrangler – the go-anywhere 4×4 with the iconic seven-slot grille – is known around the world for its unmatched versatility and unmistakable design.
With this pedigree, any changes to the Wrangler must be carefully considered because these traits are what “Jeep stands for around the world.”
“It’s not just important to us. It’s also important to our thousands, and millions, of fans,” said Mike Manley, head of Jeep brand – FCA Global.
Acknowledging this connection between the brand and its fans provided a roadmap for those working on the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler.
When work began designing, developing and engineering the next-generation Wrangler, Manley stated that it had to be authentic to what the vehicle stands for: its capability, versatility and the “whole sense of being able to do more tomorrow than you’ve done today.”
“We knew that, and our fans had told us that we had to stay true to that,” Manley added.
He added that Jeep made sure the Wrangler “really represented the next generation that could take us into the future” and “really continue to be that massive icon for the brand.”
In doing this, the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler offers modern design, advanced fuel-efficient powertrains with advanced technology while not deviating from the Wrangler’s core character and capabilities.
Jeep also improved the Wrangler’s capability and made dramatic improvements to its ride, handling and noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels. This was all done while preserving the “authenticity” that has spanned the nearly seven decades of the Wrangler.
“I’m very, very pleased and delighted with what our engineers, our designers and the guys in our plants have been able to come up with,” Manley said. “I couldn’t have been happier with the next-generation Wrangler.”
